My Internship Experience at YOUNIQX

My Internship Experience at YOUNIQX

Our former intern Helene puts the experience of her internship at youniqx into a blog post. Thank you Helene for your awesome work and commitment!

When I started my internship at YOUNIQX, I honestly didn’t know exactly what to expect. Like many university students stepping into their first professional experience, I hoped to learn new things, contribute in some way, and get a sense of what working in the design and UX field would actually feel like. What I found during my three months here was not only a place where I could grow my skills, but also a team that made me feel welcome and valued from the very first day.
Looking back now, I can see how much I’ve learned, not just in terms of tools and workflows, but also in how to collaborate, share ideas, and think critically about design decisions.

Learning by Doing

A big part of my work at YOUNIQX revolved around Figma. Before my internship, I was already familiar with it, but here I had the opportunity to really dive deeper and get a more practical insight. I created prototypes, designed templates, worked on social media content, and even helped develop illustrations for the company website. What made this so rewarding was knowing that these weren’t just practice tasks, they were real contributions. Seeing my work being used gave me the feeling that what I was doing mattered, and that was highly motivating.

Insights from User Testing

Another key area of my internship was supporting user tests. I helped prepare prototypes, set up the sessions, and took notes. On one occasion, I even had the chance to lead a test myself. What surprised me most was how much I enjoyed the note-taking part. It required me to pay close attention not only to what participants said, but also to their gestures, expressions, and the small details of how they interacted with the designs. This experience showed me just how much can be learned by observing users closely, and it reinforced the importance of empathy in UX.

Shaping My Future

One of the things I appreciated most at YOUNIQX was the culture. From the very beginning, I was encouraged to share my perspective. Even though I was new to the team and often looking at designs with fresh eyes, my feedback was always taken seriously. That openness made me feel like my voice mattered, and it gave me the confidence to contribute more actively. It’s not something to take for granted, having an environment where everyone’s opinion is valued makes a huge difference, especially for interns who are just starting out.

Looking Back

In just three months, I gained far more than I expected when I first walked through the door. I improved my technical skills, discovered new areas of interest, and learned what it means to collaborate in a professional design team. But beyond that, I also experienced what it’s like to be part of a workplace where people care about both the quality of their work and the people they work with. For that, I’m truly grateful.
