This privacy notice applies exclusively to the Youniqx MIA application (“the Wallet”) provided by youniqx Identity AG. It describes how personal data is handled when you use the Wallet to obtain, store, and present digital identity credentials.
This notice does not apply to the corporate website www.youniqx.com or to other services of youniqx Identity AG. The general privacy notice of youniqx Identity AG is available at youniqx.com/data-privacy. It also does not cover the data processing of issuers and relying parties to which you present your credentials – these parties are separate controllers with their own privacy notices.
You can reach the data protection officer by email at: privacy@youniqx.com
The Wallet is an application for the European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet ecosystem pursuant to Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 as amended by Regulation (EU) 2024/1183 (“eIDAS 2.0”) and the EUDI Architecture and Reference Framework (ARF). With the Wallet you can:
Your credentials are stored exclusively locally on your device. They are encrypted, and the associated cryptographic keys are protected by the secure hardware of your device. youniqx Identity AG has no access to the content of your credentials and cannot see when, where, or to whom you present them.
The Wallet keeps a local transaction history (privacy dashboard) so that you can review which attributes you have presented to which relying party. This history exists only on your device and is never transmitted to youniqx Identity AG.
When you request a credential, identity data flows directly between your Wallet and the respective issuer. The issuer is the controller for its own identification and issuance process.
When a relying party requests attributes, the Wallet shows you exactly which attributes are requested and by whom. Data is transmitted directly to the relying party only after your explicit approval, and only the attributes you approve. The relying party is the controller for its own processing of the received data.
To confirm to issuers and relying parties that your Wallet instance is genuine and uncompromised, technical data about your Wallet instance may be processed (such as an app instance identifier, operating system version, and integrity status). This attestation data contains no identity attributes and is not linked to the content of your credentials.
Access to the Wallet is protected by a PIN and, if you enable it, by the biometric authentication of your device (e.g. fingerprint or facial recognition). Biometric verification is performed entirely by the operating system of your device. Biometric data never leaves your device and is at no time accessible to youniqx Identity AG.
The Wallet uses your device camera solely to scan QR codes that initiate issuance or presentation flows. The camera image is processed locally on your device; no images are captured, stored, or transmitted.
The Wallet contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, no tracking, and no profiling. In accordance with Article 5a(14) of eIDAS 2.0, youniqx Identity AG does not collect information about your use of the Wallet that is not necessary for the provision of the Wallet service, and does not combine Person Identification Data with any other personal data.
When the Wallet communicates with our systems (for example for wallet attestation, configuration, or revocation status checks), technically necessary connection data (such as IP address, date and time of access, and requested resource) is processed transiently in order to deliver the service and to ensure the security and stability of our systems. Technical server logs, where created for security purposes, contain no credential data and are deleted after no more than 7 days.
Personal data from your credentials is transmitted only to the issuers and relying parties that you yourself choose and approve in each individual transaction. youniqx Identity AG does not pass personal data from the Wallet on to third parties.
Where technical service providers are used to operate our infrastructure, they act as processors pursuant to Article 28 GDPR and are bound by corresponding data processing agreements. No personal data is transferred by us to third countries outside the European Economic Area.
The Wallet is distributed via the app stores of Apple and Google. The download and installation are subject to the privacy policies of the respective app store operator.
Processing required to provide the Wallet is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the usage agreement concluded with you). Processing for the security and integrity of the Wallet and our systems is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in operating a secure and trustworthy wallet solution. Every presentation of credentials is voluntary and takes place only after your explicit confirmation in the Wallet.
youniqx Identity AG does not store any credential data on its servers. Your credentials and your transaction history exist only on your device: deleting a credential in the Wallet or uninstalling the Wallet removes this data from your device. Transient technical data on our systems is deleted within the periods stated in section 9.
You have the rights of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and objection (Art. 21 GDPR).
Please note: since your credentials are stored only on your device and youniqx Identity AG does not retain personal data from the Wallet, we are generally unable to link a request to any retained data (Article 11 GDPR). For the correction of attributes contained in a credential, please contact the respective issuer. Should you wish to exercise your data protection rights, please contact our data protection officer at privacy@youniqx.com.
If you are of the opinion that the processing of your personal data violates data protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority pursuant to Article 77(1) GDPR:
Österreichische DatenschutzbehördeThis Wallet is currently provided as a demonstration and testing environment (sandbox), without warranty of availability or fitness for a particular purpose. Where possible, please use test credentials rather than credentials containing your real personal data.
